Do you consider the voting system in the US elections fair or should it be changed and the winner be the candidate with the highest number of votes?

I like the electoral college but think the electoral votes for each state should be different.

I believe it is fair because if the popular vote were to win, small states like Iowa or North Dakota that don't have a lot of people wouldn't stand a chance against highly populated cities and states. Such as New York and California.

it is called the United States, not the United people. It is a contract between the states, so it makes sense for each state to make it's own selection regardless of population.

I think our system needs some changes but not a direct democracy like some people want. In a direct democracy candidates would simply campaign only in high population states and tri-state areas. Large swaths of the country would be ignored.
We have issues with our elections like gerrymandering voting districts in state elections and money in politics. Those are big issues that definitely make things unfair. I don't think the electoral college is a big issue. Even though it gave us Trump.... -____-

The electoral college is important so that highly populated states like California and New York don't end up making all of the important decisions for everyone else.
