I agree that the first sentence sounds ok. For the second one maybe "I can still hear her husband snoring like thunder even though there is a bathroom and bedroom between us."

Or perhaps try:
I still can hear her husband snoring like thunder all the way from the bathroom.
I can still hear her husband snoring like a chainsaw all the way from the other bedroom.
(Why like a chainsaw? No idea, but I hear that a fair amount to describe snoring... go figure.)
