They both are correct, but Spanish is a pro-drop language, that means that unless you want to emphasize or clarify an ambiguous sentence, the most natural way to use a verb would be without the pronoun. "tengo", "eres", "soy", etc.
You would use "yo tengo" when you want to make it very clear that it is YOU (and no other) who has the thing you're talking about. But careful, overusing the "yo" pronoun can make you seem a little self-absorbed. On the ohter hand, for "tiene", "es" and other third person verbs, using "él", "ella", "usted" would be more natural, especially if you're talking about many people and want to avoid any confusion as of who you are talking about.

It would not make a difference if there is only one person for that conjugation
Ex: yo and tengo
Tu and tienes
Nosotros and tenemos
For the third singular and plural, you would probably want to specify using either él, ella, ellos, ellas, usted, or ustedes before the conjugated verb
The third singular and plural have more than one possible person for the conjugation
