It has a connotation of continuing speaking in a positive way. I mean, it's similar to 'and' in English.
For example, if I say like "나 저녁 먹고 잘 거야.", it means "I will eat dinner and then go to bed."
The opposite can be '-ㄴ데', '-지만', etc. They differ in how they are used. But what they have in common is that they seem to have a negative conjunction meaning like 'but'.
