Vindicate is to clear someone of blame or suspicion or to prove someone right
Exonerate is when someone usually a legal entity clears someone of fault or wrong doing. Usually after some consideration. It can also mean to free someone from duty.

Vindicate is like justify. Exonerate is like proven innocent or relieved from work.
