"Täällä" refers to a larger area - "around here, in these parts" - while "tässä" refers to a smaller area, "right here, right on this spot".
- Russian
- Finnish Near fluent
-lla, -llä - on, in (big area)
-ssa, -ssä - in, inside smaller area

This is advanced grammar but needs to be said...
It is necessary to notixe the difference between pronouns "tässä" and "tällä" and proadverbs "tässä" and "täällä". Yes, "tässä" can be either a pronoun or a proadverb.
With pronouns tässä and tällä the endings -ssä and -llä have the usual meaning in and on. Tässä and tällä also have the same case as the word they define. Examples
Tässä puistossa on ihmisiä = There are people in this park
Minä seison tällä pöydällä = I am standing on this table
Proadverbs tässä and täällä refer to a small and large area. They do not define the word that follows them so they don't have to have the same case. Examples:
Täällä puistossa on ihmisiä = There are people around here in the park
Minä seison tässä pöydällä = I am standing right here, on the table
