In italy we also use an abbreviation "Prof" or "Profe"
In some school we also call them by their surname

We adress them professore/professoressa but in elementary school we call them "maestro/a"

@Miryea Just, let's say: teacher's surname: Mendez. You only call him "Mendez" or you add something else.

@Leo099 just the surname is a bit weird. (but in some school they do so). We usually add the abb. Prof before

Maestro/Maestra in primary school and then Professore/Professoressa. You can also say docente and insegnante, but not when you're calling them. They are more generic words.
In my school it would have been considered unpolite to adress them with just the surname. In primary school they often use maestro + first name (eg. Maestra Maria), but it depends on the teacher.
