Since Munich is in Germany you have to speak German or English. It's not just because we live in Germany but more because they don't speak Russian. Or may I ask if the Ukrainian border officers speak German?

@AndrewH91 but I guess some border officers in Ukraine speak German. In USSR people study German in schools as foreign language, not English. Nowadays pupils and students usually learn four languages: Ukrainian, Russian, English and German. But when I finished school I learn only Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Yeah, that's true. People in East Germany also had to study Russian. But I don't think that their Russian is good, it was probably only a side subject. Anyways, Munich is in West Germany which wasn't occupied by the USSR but by the allies and that means they didn't study Russian at all.

@vlnz11 Usually Russian is very uncommon in Germany. English is used as a global language especially at boarder control.

@AndrewH91 Sorry for annoying. Can I just buy sim-card in Germany? I heard that is long process(some days) and I should order it. Is it true? Can u suggest the cheapest one mobile provider? Just for internet connection.

@vlnz11 No problem. Yeah, you can buy prepaid SIM cards everywhere. But mobile internet in Germany is pretty expensive. I use Vodafone and pay 10€ for one gb and a little calling flat. You can also use a different provider and have 3 gb for 10€ but I don't know if the connection will also be that good. A good alternative would be to go to a supermarket and buy a SIM card of that supermarket (Lidl, Aldi, Edeka...). These aren't that expensive but still have a good connection.

@AndrewH91 I counted on higher price. That's good. For example when I travelled to my sister in USA 1gb cost 30$. On the other hand, I pay just 2.2€ for 8gb in Ukraine. Thx for advice.

@vlnz11 Go for examle to the Lidl. There are many pre-paid "tarif plans" at the cash desk. The price beginn from ~6€ (bigger price - more minutes and MBs included "for free"). After buying you need to activate Sim card. You need internet access and address! I did activation with the address of my hotel.

I can recommend to learn "minimal German to survive". For example 10 Pimsleur lessions (it's not a Problem to find them in Russia an Ukraine :-). They are English-German, but your English is much better as my, so it's not a problem. I don't know how it's in München, but in Eastgerman not much people speak English (or they don't show this).

The border officer in Hannover asked some questions in Russian. For example where is your invitation and the return ticket. But they speak English pretty well, so don't worry.
