Making an eye contact is polite as it shows them you're listening. Don't try to stare at them though;)

K-pop is huge especially among the younger people. All the music shows on tv and charts are dominated by kpop. People over 30 might feel a little embarrassed to say they're kpop fan, but still a lot of people listen to kpop:)
