Yes it can be important, try to get in the best university you can, e.g imperial, London. it will make you much more employable :)

On the other hand, generally the grade matters more than the university. A First from Manchester is better than a Third from Oxford, I would say.

That fact that you've gone to university in itself is a huge achievement however it also depends on the job you want. Some jobs prefer experience over qualifications.
