I dont understand the difference between the dictionary form of a word, and the Present affirmative of a word.
For example my book uses the sentence
テレビを見ます。
Why not use the Dictionary form 見る instead of 見ます?

テレビを見る is also okay.
テレビを見ます ia a honorific expression, and テレビを見る is a standard expression.
When you talk to close people, you can use a standard expression. When you talk to other people, you should use a honorific expression.
