Yes. Circles are called 丸(まる) in Japanese. So he introduced himself as Mr. 丸 by mistake. (He should've filled in the two circles with his own name and introduced himself of course by his own name.
By that, he got the undesired nickname 丸.

Incidentally, I think ついて is more natural sounding than ついたりして.

Thanks for the response! I understand about まる, but my question was that I don't understand what ついたりして (or ついて) is...
