この文で「ついたりして」は何ですか?

: 日本語の授業ではみんな僕の名前を覚えていなかった。自己紹介で自分の名前を間違えて、変なあだ名が *ついたりして* 本当に大変だった。

It looks a little like 食べたり飲んだりした (I did things like eating and drinking), but ...

当分自分の翻訳: In Japanese class, everyone didn't remember [wasn't remembering] my name. In (my) self-introduction, (I) made a mistake with my name and (??) a strange nickname; it was really tough.

I think this means something like "gained" or "acquired".
