Question about Philippines
As I know there are a lot of different languages in the Philippines, I was wondering: what is your mother tongue? Tagalog, Cebuano, Bicolano, Illongo, Waray or even another one?
I like very much the Philippines diversity and I am curious to see how many languages are spoken by the Filipinos on hinative 😊

Aside from Filipino and English, I can fluently speak one Bisaya dialect, which is Akeanon and can understand Cebuano, Ilonggo and Bicolano.

@recheltabz I know. 😊 But I was wondering for how many of you Tagalog is not the native language.

It's in Aklan, central part of PH. It's also bisaya like Cebuano but we have a bunch of words/ expressions, accent/ pronunciation that are totally different from it and other bisaya.

My mother tongue is Cebuano. but i can speak Tagalog, a little Maranao and Chabacano or Zamboangueno as most people in our place call it. Philippines has more than a hundred dialects.

I'm an ilonggo native speaker. I am also fluent in Kinaray-a which is a regional language in Antique. I can speak basic Bisaya and can understand basic bicolano.

I am a Fil-American, but I am a fluent speaker in standard Tagalog, and it is my first language. I also speak Aklanon though as my mother speaks it. I can also understand Waray and am a little fluent in it as well because my dad is from Samar and speaks it.

hi~ there are different mother tongue when it comes to the philippines. like from where j am living right now, our mother tongue is ninorte samarnon and when you travel 5 hours from where i am staying they are already speaking in waray. but if you're asking for the lamguage all filipinos use to communicate, we use filipino :)

Our mother tongue depends on the place you are going to stay. But all of us know how to speak tagalog.

I'm a Cebuano but in our place in Cagayan de Oro, we call it Bisaya.Because sometimes Cebuano is referred to people living in Cebu. Cebuano and Bisaya are the same, the only difference is how we speak it and our expressions. Same concept with British and Australian.
