It's the same. When you know someone, you say both of them

You can say either when you meet someone, there's no difference, they are just two different ways to express the same. I think "Encantado" is a bit more common though.

"Encantado" is more common in Spain, "mucho gusto" is more latinoamerican but both can be perfectly understood in any spanish speaker country.
