it depends on where you live, if you rent an apartment it could cost around 400€-500€ a month and you'd only have 250€ for food and other living expenses, I don't live alone yet so I don't really know how much money you need for food and other stuff

I think less than a 1000€ per month isnt going to get you anywhere. And as how expensive we are I'd say Finland is on par with Switzerland

In depends on where- in Helsinki, definetely not, in the middle of nowhere in Lapland, probably yes. I pay for a flat 600€ which is really really cheap, in general i spend about 1200€/month not going out, not buying anything expensive etc. Talking from the perspective of former erasmus (not in Finland, but knowing how it is to be an erasmus) i would say 1100€ is an absolute minimum to use the period here to the fullest (sharing a flat of course)

If you can get a student apartment for max 300e/month, you'll have plenty of cash left for necessities.

Outside capital area without car and family people can get by with 800-1000e month with quite easily but rural areas cars are must to have and everything transportation related is heavily taxed and expensive. Naturally it helps if you are not spending money on alcohol as it's also really expensive. 650e/m is possible but after rent you need to be quite keen where you spend your money and in capital area it will be really difficult
