分かりたい is also acceptable but I think 分かり合いたい sounds better because 知る and 分かる are slightly different from each other in meaning.
知る means to know and 分かる means to understand.
So 分かり合う means to understand each other though, we don't say 知り合う in thins case because 知り合う doesn't mean to understand each other but it means just you know who the person is.
For example, 私たちは学校で知り合った means we met at our school then our relationship was started at the time.
