" Don't worry (about it) " is used sometimes as a replacement as never mind. It can also be used when someone apologizes.
"I'm sorry"
"Don't worry about it."
Never mind has limited use and if you use it wrong you will sound rude.
"What is it?"
"Never mind"
"What is it? "
"Don't worry about it"
"I'm sorry"
"Never mind about it" < - this can be taken as rude.
"I'm sorry"
"Don't worry about it" <- this form is much more nicer/polite and casual.

Yes the conversation is weird. Say "it's okay" since "i clicked the wrong button" is similar to an apology

"I'm sorry." "Never mind." Is this dialogue unnatural?
- English (US)
That sounds passive-aggressive. The natural responses would be "It's fine", "don't worry about it", "It's no problem", etc.
