てしまう、てしまった。 If these words mean something already done, shouldn't it all be the past time term and use てしまった? Will there be any situation we should use てしまう?

彼は行ってしまった。He (has) left. 彼は行ってしまう。is in most cases for the future event, He's gonna leave. But in novels, or narratives, it could sometimes mean "He left." as part of a narration of the speaker.

@tatsuca Thanks for the answer. I'm not quite sure the example you gave. “He have to pick up his children, so he will leave the work earlier everyday.” Like this kind of situation?

Another example. ぐずぐすしていると夜がきてしまうよ。If you are procrastinating, the night will fall already.
