When I was a child: quando ero piccolo/piccola or quando ero bambino/bambina
Used to has slightly different translations depending on the context:
I used to do sth=ero solito/a fare qualcosa
I'm used to waking up late: sono solito/a alzarmi tardi or sono abituato/a ad alzarmi tardi or even "di solito mi alzo tardi"
