@paramus: when you ask something there's a question mark in the end.
How have you been?
Are you okay?
However, beg has a different meaning.
"Please help me, im begging you"
"Dont hurt her please, i beg of you"

I see. In the case of beg, there is no choice of yes or no to make.

If you were to beg for something, it would be more of a desperate request. Asking for something is more casual.
If you were to beg, it'd probably be somewhat like:
"Please give this job to me, you won't regret it. I really need it, so please let me do this job for you!"
Asking would be more like:
"Could I see the name of the book you're reading?"

Ask is considered causal and informal. Beg is similar to plead, most people think of someone begging on their knees. Beg is a stronger verb, usually used to put emphasis on the way a person said something.
