Question about English (US)
I like shopping, but sometimes I find that it's difficult for me to enter a shop if it's dead.
If I enter the shop, the staff will talk to me or I feel like I'm kind of overseen. It's kind of awkward.
For instance, it's jewel shop, interior stuff shop or something like that.
Not only me, but other people in my country seem to have the same experience.
How about your country?

Yeah, usually if I go into a shop, someone will say "Hi, welcome."
They do it to keep customers from shoplifting. Apparently, research has shown that if you make eye contact with someone, they are less likely to steal.

We definitely experience that here, but I think a good salesperson can make you feel welcome and comfortable regardless.

To overbyen. Thank you for the information. I understand their intention that they greet us, but it's kind of apparent and sometimes that made me uncomfortable. I feel like they suspect me.
