@mmw24 It's rude to talk back to parents (no matter what age, i think). Rude to call your in-laws by first name. Rude to not give money to someone whose loved one died. Rude to NOT use 'po' and 'opo' when speaking to elderly. In addition, it is also rude to NOT refer to an elder using plural pronoun when talking to them (hence, "ninyo, or "inyo" even if they are only singular) Now, in more traditionally filipino homes also, it is rude if u don't take off your outside shoes when entering the home of someone. Those are just some that i know.

Thank you! Also, what is the difference between opo and po?

Opo can be used to answer questions. Polite term for “oo” which is translated as yes.
Po is a word which is usually added in a sentence to make it more polite
Polite:Kain na po tayo.
Standard form: Kain na tayo. ( Same age or close friends)
Translation: “Let us eat”
Literally: Eat lets us

@mmw24 'opo' is the exact translation of a respectful "yes." "Po" is added after, preferably, an adverb or adjective to denote that the sentence is being related to in a respectful/humble manner. (ie. "Hindi na po ako kakain." = I'm not going to eat anymore.)

As a visitor, it is a bit rude to decline something that is given to you. Just accept everything. (It doesn't mean that when you accept something, you have to eat or take it. The thought of you accepting it is okay to Filipinos.)

Also, doing this sound in public (Pssssst). It's a way to call someone, but very casual and at often times, rude. Doing this in the public would make everyone turn their heads to you, thinking you're calling them.
