Actually it's not a holiday. We just give our teachers flowers, cards, small gifts to show our appreciation.
We even gather our friends and go back to our old schools to visit teachers and then maybe we'll go out for drinks

I got it! it is the day which is alumni/graduates appreciate the teacher, isn't it?
there is "同窓会/どうそうかい" in japan. it may differ from yours though.
after graduate, the teacher and ex-students gather. and we are talking, eating and drinking.
