They are very similar. Listening is like purposefully choosing to hear something.
Some examples:
-Listen to this.
-Did you listen to the song I asked you to listen to?
-Did you hear that?
-I hear something.
I don't have a very good way to explain it, but listening is choosing to hear (to listen to) something, while hearing seems to be natural, like if you happen to hear something even without trying.
