私は家族がいました, or 私は家族がありました? What is correct...?
"I had a family". (Don't know if I have it correctly, though)

私には家族がいました。
ある (ありました) is used for things rather than peoples :)

@naa Thank you. I wasn't sure because family (group consisting of several people) isn't essentially a living thing.
