Question about Japan
How are fat/chubby [regular] girls looked upon in Japan? I know that with idols, anyone that is over, let’s say 110 pounds or even lower for a 5’5 girl, is bashed upon. I’ve also seen videos where Japanese (mainly high schoolers) guys say they won’t date anyone chubby.

I'm not sure but I would assume that they probably are based on because you know that Japan is a very skinny country. But there is a chance that they are not bashed on ad much as we think

The standard of obesity is much different between America and Japan.
What you call "chubby" might be "super fat" here.
There are "chubby" (in Japanese standard) girls and it's not a big deal. But being "chubby" in American standard would be a problem when you look for a boyfriend.
They calculate appropriate weight by taking off 110 from height, like if you are 165cm, you are expected to be 55kg or less. In Japan, they use the metric system.

I’m not a Japanese Person but being exposed to Korean/Japanese hate and stuff like this, a lot of people I think do get looked down upon and get picked on. But I also heard that some people just make little comments to someone chubby like “oh, when are you going to work out?” Or something like asking to eat a salad but they don’t mean it in a harmful way? Idk. It’s just so different because even some models in America are considered fat in Asian places but they aren’t?

https://youtu.be/U4K-VwyBhb8 <- This and another one was the video I was talking about. I’m baffled at the fact that some of them said 60 is fat/chubby. According to normal American standards, 100 would be what you start calling chubby.
Kind of TMI but I have a BMI of 23.9 and I don’t know if it’s just genes but I look overweight. Not like obese fat. But like thick thighs and arms. I have a friend that has a BMI of 14.5 and my thigh is the size of her two arms combined. I did a quick search and for my height (5’2.5 or 5’3”), the overweight BMI starts at >25. No matter what chart I check, I fall into the normal category. However, no matter who I meet, they always look at me as fat and treat me differently from skinnier girls. I mean drastically different.

I think you’re a good size and you’re perfectly fine. It’s just that Asian standards are waaaay different. I watched the video and she brought up the fact that because they have a lot of health problems too at some certain weights. But I think sometimes it has something to do with their height as well. Some Asians aren’t that tall so if they are a normal weight in America, it could cause them health problems in their small body. If they had a bit more height, if they were a bit heavier it wouldn’t show really. ( please don’t get me wrong,I’m not trying to say that Asians are too short to be fat or anything like that. I’m saying for example a girl who is 5’2 and 115lbs would show her weight differently than a girl 5’5 or even 5’6 and weighs the same) I think over time that’s why everyone forces it upon their children and such to be super skinny that it looks unhealthy. They have developed that that is what beautiful looks like.
I think it’s a really big problem as well. The other day I was on Instagram and a person had asked her Korean and Japanese (along with different types of Asian) followers what hurtful things their parents had said to them for being ‘chubby’ and the comments were so unbelievable. The things they said to their children were just terrible. And it’s because the parents especially were brought up to think that you have to be starving yourself every day to be beautiful.
All in all, ‘overweight/chubby’ men and women (I think mostly women) in japan do get treated wrongly and it’s sad to see that they do.

Whatever insist what's your standard, you can't change value and beauty standard of others. If you can't adapt to their standard, the only thing you can do is to be away from them.

It's not common at all. First of all, fat children are quite rare here. And if there are, people blame their parents for giving them unhealthy food.
