“Prego” -> you’re welcome
“Per favore” -> please (when you ask for something)
“Prego” si usa generalmente in risposta ad un "grazie", oppure in modo più formale, per esempio nel fare una richiesta: "Prego, si accomodi". In questo caso andrebbe bene anche “per favore” (Per favore si accomodi), ma “prego” rende la frase più formale.
