So If i can sum up for you « des » is a article like « the » in English but it’s necessary to use it.
« Des » is an undefined article which means you use it before the noun you want to qualify.
« Des enfants » means you can’t really count the number of childrens .
But I really suggest you to look on grammar lessons because there is more rules I can’t tell you here without taking 2 hours to write

It's a "article" in french, you use it to indicate if the "nom" (noun) is definate or indefinate, if it's singular ou plural.
For examples : DES enfants - childrens
DES sacs - bags
UN ( defini ) sac - a bag
LE ( indefini ) sac - a bag

@sahrar c’est l’inverse « un sac »est indéfini « le sac » est défini car c’est celui la et pas un autre
