@mofuri "Snap out of it" confuses most people, since it literally means to return to a proper state of emotion or mind, the proper way of usage is to say it when someone is in a bad emotional state; such as sadness or foul mood, anger or depression. Which is why some proper synonyms would be "cheer up" or "liven up". Over time it has become a way to revive people from any unusual state of mind or emotion, but normally is meant for disheartening states.

@mofuri Mostly used in a sentence as an 'imperative' word, normally it urges the recipient to accept look the situation or information in a factual way, or be take a more serious tone.
"You need to get real about this bills, they almost cut our water last month"
"You plan on asking her on a date again? Get real, you have been rejected 8 times, is time for you to get the message."
