Can you explain the grammatical structure of the latter part (new blades...) ? Don't you need "with" before "new blades", do you?

I find the entire sentence kind of odd.
I looked it up on the web. Someone called it an elliptical style of writing.
You are correct though, "with" would make it more gramattically correct.
