Yes. In the US, there are overnight trains that have sleeper cars. During the day it looks like a little room with places to sit and at night it converts to bunk beds.

Yet on the subway in New York, if you sleep in your seat you might miss your stop and your iPod might be gone when you wake up.

Well, interesting enough, when I was in NY, mainly Manhattan, some people actually were sleeping on the train. I obserbed that, and NY is now known as the safest subway ever. The things might have got better thesedays . Haven't they?

I haven't seen anyone asleep on the trains in my country (Australia), and it's seen as a little bit strange if it does happen. Most of the time people are reading or listening to music while awake. 母国のオーストラリアに電車で寝ないのに、現在東京に暮らしている私は毎日電車で睡眠をしっかり取っています(笑)

In Russia you should sleep in the trains very often. Simply because a trip on this type of transport can take a few days.

In the UK people always sleep on the train. When I lived in London, I took the tube (underground train) everyday and could sleep 20 minutes on the way home, no problem!
