I am Clara - yo soy Clara (name, professions, nationality, religion, etc)
I am in the bank - Yo estoy en el banco (places, health, etc)
But you can use estoy and soy for emotions
I am happy - yo soy/estoy feliz
- Spanish (Mexico)
Mucha suerte!

Yeah, but "Yo soy feliz" is referring to a permanent condition that is not going to change in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, "estoy feliz" refers to a temporary condition that could change any moment: "Yo estoy feliz ahora" but maybe tomorrow I'm not going to be happy anymore.
There are also some adjectives that express permanent conditions but use "estar" and not "ser", for example: "estar muerto"(You can't say "ser muerto") This is because they express the result of a change, the inherent change of dying.

soy is permanent. for example soy de méxico or soy de los estados unidos(saying where you’re from basically). and estoy is emotion. for example, estoy enojada (im mad) estoy triste (im sad) and that’s temporary feelings.
