- English (UK)
Normal usage:
- pure intent, no imminence of action assumed: "This year, I intend to go to the gym!"
- imminent action assumed: "I'm going to the gym after work. Do you want to come?"
- prediction, future tense (only time shift): "I told my karate teacher, I will go to the gym next week."
However, there can be much overlap, especially "will" and "be going to" in conversation. The only guaranteed difference is that in most contexts "intend to" is a little more formal, as if speaking to parents, teachers, co-workers or any kind of official.
