池に パンくず(breadcrums)を まいた(past tense of maku. maku means scatter) When you say panko, that is store product panko. If it's just breadcrums you brought, I'd say just pan or pankuzu.

散らす usually comes with negative nuance like littering. まく is more positive as in 種をまく、チラシをまく like distributing.
