ゴールデンウィーク Golden weeks
Golden Week is a collection of national holidays.
So...an extended period of leisure and recreation, especially one spent away from home or in travelling.
｢ゴールデンウィークを迎えた｣ is
greeted Golden week!
｢退屈だった｣ is 'I was so bored. '

私の生徒も「I greeted Golden Week」で訳したけど、英語でそういう表現ないですね。「休みに迎える」というのは、「退屈だったけど、なんとなく過ごした」という意味ですかね

ゴールデンウィークは、日本の文化の一つですので、海外にはないので、訳し方が難しく、少し無理やりですが
｢greeted Golden Week｣と訳しました。
｢休みに迎える｣と言う表現は
ありません(日本語に)。ただ、ゴールデンウィークは、1週間ほどある長い休みなので、｢クリスマスを迎える｣とか｢お正月を迎える｣などと同じ表現を使うのだと思います。

@nonchan2017 なるほど。たしかに、greetedが近いですね。ただ、問題は、私は「ゴールデンウィークを迎える」/「greeted Golden Week」という表現の気持ちがちょっとわからないですね。😅 何を伝えたいのかはっきりわかったら、もしかして生徒さんに別の訳を見せることができるかもしれないです。日本語で別の言葉にできますかね？

そうですね～｢ゴールデンウィークに
入る｣または｢ゴールデンウィークになる｣などは、使います。
先にも言った様に、長い連休なので
(特に学生や若い人は)ゴールデンウィークは、喜ぶと思います。
｢ゴールデンウィークを迎える｣の中には、｢やったぁ～！休みだ！｣と言う喜びの気持ちが入っているのでは、ないでしょうか？(*^^*)

を迎える for a case like this is just another way of suggesting the fact that an event is coming up or someone is visiting the subject, from the perspective of the subject. ゴールデンウィークを迎える pretty much means the same as ゴールデンウィークが来る the Golden Week is coming; (日本は)ゴールデンウィークに 入る/なる Japan is entering the Golden Week, but 迎えるsounds a bit sophisticated. The object can be either a tangible object or intangible thing: 結婚記念日を迎える(celebrate); 多くの留学生を迎える(accommodate; accept; welcome)
