Question about Italian
How would you use the verb "to try"?
For example, in Italian, what is the difference between "I want to try some wine" and "I am trying to finish this"? I know that in Spanish, they are 2 completely different words.

Io voglio provare qualche vino.. Works but is better ..io voglio assaggiare/bere/gustare qualche vino. Try is generic.. Try to use the specific verb. Try to finish this is like to attempt.. It works better if you aren't sure to have success on finishing it.

So could I say "Sto provando di finire questa actività"?

- Italian
Sto provando A finire questa attività.. Is ok .. Consider that you are saying that you are trying .. You have to pay attention to the rest of the sentence.. You are trying but.. You will do the activity?

So I'm using more of the verb "to attempt"? Tentare
- English (UK) Near fluent
- Italian
Yes, if you are trying and you are not sure about the result or how much time you will take... Use tentare. So you will do a tentativo. L'anno scorso ho tentato di scalare la montagna ho fatto un tentativo e non è andata bene. L'anno dopo ho tentato di nuovo e ci sono riuscito.
