hmm, we don't really have a formal way. Maybe "Wonderful" but cool isn't necessarily informal.

@Ayami763 it could be depending on the context.
If you use it to reply to a statement from someone like your boss, it cold be "informal". But if it's actually used to express Something you think is "cool" it's be okay.
boss: "The deadline got rescheduled, so I need all the papers on my desk my Friday."
You: "cool. " Not okay/ informal
"yes sir/I understand/got it/okay/alright" all okay responses ^ - ^
boss: does an awesome trick
You: "cool/amazing!" totally okay
