Both means "you". "Awak" is often casual while "kamu" is casual, sometimes formal.
"I like you"
"Saya suka kamu" or "saya suka awak"
Another form:
"I like your hair"
" Saya suka rambut kamu" or "saya suka rambut awak"
Another synonyms of "you" are "engkau" (often shortened as "kau") and "anda".
"Engkau" or "kau" is a very informal way to address other person. you can use it when you and that person knows each other very well (person who is at the same age as you or younger) - your best friends or your siblings, never to older person than you (it is considered as very rude)
"This is all your fault!"
"Semua ni adalah salah kau!"
"Anda" is often used when you want to make a formal or universal statement"
"Please collect your ticket at the nearby counter"
"Sila ambil tiket anda di kaunter yang berdekatan"
