علم means know عرف it's like discovered bit usually they're used for the same meaning

عرف تعني ان الشخص اكتسب بالمعلومة باجتهادة . اما علم فتعني أنه اكتسب المعلومة من شخص آخر .
عرف. means that the person acquired the knowledge by his own self while علم means that the person acquired the knowledge from others .
