Yes. When you are talking about a thing in general use "a" or "an". "A" is used when a noun starts with"q w r t y p s d f g h j k l z c x v b n m" (consonants). "An" is used when a noun starts with "a e i o u" (vowels). "The" is when you are talking about something specific.
