I think it's almost same. Just a difference of expression.

The first one, it's trying to refer to the personality (the inner aspect) of 私 as a source of the problem, as the reason why あの子 hates 私. The second one is simply saying "That kid/She (the girl friend of 私) hates me. Note that 私 in this case is always a woman.
