I need help with the grammar of this sentence:

A pesar de esto hay distintos tipos y distintas causas de sufrimiento entre las que se encuentran las si evitables .

What's confusing me is what "las que..." is referring to ("causas de sufrimiento"?) and "las si evitables".

Examples along with your grammar explanations will be appreciated!

las si evitables Is refered about the things You can avoid. "las que" means like beetwen the reasons, Is used to make a Little list of sustantives. in spanish You can find: las cuales, las que, refiriendo a las razones que generan una relación causa efecto. like: las esculturas de piedra y edificios sufren muchos daños por meteorización, entre las cuales o las que pueden ser: lluvia ácida, el sol, el polvo, el viento.

Let me ask differently.

Let's focus just on "entre las que se encuentran las si evitables".

1. If someone can translate piece-by-piece to English, that would help tremendously in seeing the structure.

2. I don't understand grammatically the role of "las si evitables". Is this the "object" of "se encuentran"? Or does this modify "las que" like an adjective?

3. Any examples for "el/la/los/las si + ADJECTIVE"?

For example, can I say "No me caen bien sus amigos, especialmente los si egoistas"

Just trying to generalize this pattern so I can use it on my own.

4. Does the above mean "entre las que se encuentran y las que son si evitables"? If not, can you rephrase it in a different manner?

entre las que can be translated as among wich...
las si evitables can be translate as those avoidable.
the line is out of context, but using the word "si" is refering to the posibility of two options like no evitables and si evitables, but it does not sound natural in common speaking, probably it was taken from a scientific publication, in fact it is redundant the use of "si evitables", it should be eliminated the use of "si" in that situation.
the contraire of "inevitable" is "evitable" not "si evitable"

I thought the "las" after "entre" was the subject of "se encuentran", but no. "entre las que" means "among which" and is followed by a clause.

Thanks for clearing this up!

And thanks for the explanation about "si". I was confused there because I mixed it up with French.
