What is the difference between Closet and Wardrobe and Cabinet and Cupboard and Almirah ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.
These words are very confusing to me as their meanings seem to change depending on the dialect, so if anyone could be as exhaustive as possible in clarifying their differences, it would greatly help. Thank you !

Closets are usually built into the walls of the house. Wardrobes are separate pieces of furniture you store your clothes in. Cabinets and cupboards are very similar, but cupboards usually store cups and dishes and utensils, while cabinet is a much wider term. And I have never heard of an almirah.

Thanks for your answer. Indeed, Almirah is an Indian English term. But could you please elaborate a bit more on the differences between cabinets and cupboards ?

@Mea2 Cabinets can hold various things like food, random objects, pretty much anything, and can be found in kitchens, but also other rooms of the house. Cupboards are usually only in the kitchen or dining room and are used for plates, bowls, cups, etc. Not many people use the word “cupboard” where I’m from though. We just use the word “cabinet” for both.

So you think that cupboard is mostly a British term, as I suppose you're American?

@AlabasterFish Thank you anyway ! I will still wait for more answers, though. Have a nice rest of your day (I don't know what time it is in America) !
