It’s the same but in spoken Tagalog, [diyan] is commonly used because [riyan] sounds too formal and unnatural.
[riyan] is used when the word before it ends with a vowel.
Hindi riyan.

@janfrosstt what if the word before it ends with a vowel, in spoken and written (like texting) Tagalog would most people use diyan anyway?

In spoken Tagalog, we even shorten 'diyan' (2 syllables) into 'dyan' (1 syllable), usually pronounced as 'jan'. In text messages we would also use 'jan'.
However, the d/r rule is much more obvious with din/rin and daw/raw.

Usually, words that start with 'd' can change to an 'r' when it is preceded by a vowel.
E.g
Ma+dami (lots)= marami (a lot)
dapat (must, should)
=>(ka+ rep2): Karapat-dapat =necessary
=> (Ka+ an): Karapatan = Rights (legal sense)
Dagat (sea) => (Ka+an): Karagatan (ocean)
Dalita (poverty) => ma+ => maralita (poor)
I meant more obvious since the difference in frequency usage is greater with these examples.
